Assuming the objects are not completely unique (ie: more than one person can
complete the same quest)
and depending on your current inventory setup and the nature of the quests
involved, you may be better
served by using attribute flags only: a single attribute per quest could
record whether it has been
successfully "received", and whether it has been "completed" or not. If it
were required you could even
record progress in the same attribute.

As I said, it depends a lot on the nature of the quests and items.
