Ah, and with the OS using your buffers instead of its own, SO_LINGER
can't function properly.  Right.  Hrm.  Flipping back from completion
port style to more classical writes (so that SO_LINGER could work) is
also likely fraught with issues; I've certainly never tried it, and
wouldn't want to.

Beh.  I don't really see anything to fix it other than putting in
your own shutdown delay.
