No, it doesn't matter, as long as he keeps the patch to himself
and a select set of friends.  On the other hand, if the patch
is generally available, becomes popular, and a public expectation
is formed for MUXes to support this functionality, then yes, it
becomes other people's business, and at that point this is as
good a forum to discuss it in as any.  However, the level of
contentious dialog that has so far been spawned is definitely
premature.

Perhaps MUX is not the best tool to be used in the cases where
people are not skilled with softcode and/or C++?  There are other
systems that provide similar functionality, after all: LPMud,
MOO, Diku, etc.  Merely increasing the number of MUXes out there
probably shouldn't be a goal in and of itself; it's not like
we're making money off each new instance.  To go a bit further
in my heresy, perhaps softcode is such a bletcherous hack that
it and the servers that run it deserve to fade into obscurity?
