Most people who are semi-serious abuot their security run both
hardware and software firewalls these days. My personal preference
is for Sygate Personal Firewall rather than the Windows Firewall,
and I have never particularly liked ZoneAlarm.

That said, there is nothing wrong with the WinXP version of TinyMUX,
I have downloaded the Source, compiled and run that version many times
in the past, and the only consideration for other people logging in is
whether or not your firewalls allow the traffic on the port you have
configured it to use.

If in doubt, check everything from Windows Firewall, to ZoneAlarm, to your
actual ADSL router setup if you're using that sort of technology.

Oh man, people actually still use software firewalls? ZoneAlarm should be
classified as a virus anyways though i admit i am biased.

Try doing a fresh install of windows xp, do all the update patches, ghost
the machine and then dont install zonealarm. Most of your problems will
vanish and you'll have all those free cpu cycles.
