The attempt to run the pre-built TinyMUX 2.4.2.29 Beta binaries under
Windows 95 within VMWare was unsuccessful. Ultimately, the pre-built
netmux.exe program encountered an illegal instruction. Windows 95 may
not save/restore all the state that VMWare advertises to netmux.
Re-compiling with another compiler or with different settings might
fix it. I'm not going to bother with the experiment that far.
In general Windows 95 is quite difficult to bring up as Internet
Explorer 2.0 doesn't render anything properly and Internet Explorer
6.0 won't install. There is no Windows Update feature, and most of the
web pages point to nowhere anyway. It is truely neglected on
Microsoft's web site.
On the other hand, the attempt to run the pre-built binaries under
Windows 98 OSR2 within VMWare was successful.
I assume Windows 98 and Windows Me will also work.
