contactkit — Terms of Service
Terms of Service for contactkit
Last updated: 21 August 2026
What this covers
contactkit is a personal address book kept as plain text files in a git repository, run from the command line by one person on their own computer. It is not a hosted service, it is not offered to the public, and it has no users other than its operator.
These terms exist because Google asks for a terms-of-service document before an application may use the People API outside of testing mode. Read them as a description of a single-operator program rather than as an agreement offered to anyone, because there is no one else to offer it to. The privacy policy covers what data the program touches.
No service is provided
Nothing here is an offer to run software on anyone’s behalf, to store anyone’s data, or to provide support, availability, or continuity of any kind. There is no account to register, nothing to subscribe to, and no fee.
No warranty
The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The operator makes no promise that it is correct, that it will keep working, or that it will not lose data.
An address book that syncs to remote services can in principle write bad data to those services. Anyone running it does so at their own risk and is responsible for their own backups. The design keeps the git repository as the source of truth precisely so that mistakes are recoverable, but that is a design intent, not a guarantee.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any damages arising from the use of this software, including lost data, lost contacts, or damage caused to any account it connects to.
Google services
Use of the Google People API is subject to Google’s own terms. Access is granted by the operator to their own account and may be revoked at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Changes
Any change to these terms will be recorded here with a new date.
